Eco-certification

For a tourism product to be Fair Trade Tourism certified it must be assessed against the tourism product compliance criteria, which are derived from the Tourism Product Certification Standard. Tourism businesses that want to get certified by Fair Trade Tourism apply for an on-site audit by a professional audit company appointed by Fair Trade Tourism to audit against Fair Trade Tourism standard. During the on-site audit, auditors will verify compliance with several criteria relating to business practices and human resources, community resources, cultural heritage and environmental practices. Once all mandatory areas of compliance have been met (within the required timeframe), Fair Trade Tourism certification will be awarded. The criteria are business practice and HR, community resources, cultural heritage and environmental practices. The Fair-Trade Tourism audit process complies with international best practice, as set out by the GSTC.

  • The certificate is valid for 3 years gold.
  • Fair Trade Tourism auditing process is done by a 3rd party auditing company to check if areas of compliance are met.
